I saw a sign noting the times for worship services at a church. Why do we use these terms as if these meetings were service to God. This is not the kind of service God desires.
Romans 12:1-2 makes it clear that the service of worship that God desires is a life lived in holy sacrifice to Him. Therefore, service to God is laying down our lives for those around us, especially for the least of His brethren.
When we have these meetings and call them “worship services” we deprive the sheep of knowing and understanding the true worship service God desires. If we really wanted them to worship Him, we would tell them about Jesus and then send them out to worship the rest of the week…by loving their spouse, caring for their children, serving their employer, helping the poor, and so on.
