What is wrong that two thousand years after Christ’s resurrection people are still afraid of death?
God took upon Himself the flesh of Jesus of Nazareth to redeem us from the fear of death (Hebrews 2:14-15). Through that resurrection and the glories that followed, He made clear our destiny (2 Timothy 1:10). He gave us a future and a hope beyond death (Jeremiah 29:11). God was so opposed to death that He called it an “enemy” (1 Corinthians 15:26), something over which He would achieve “victory” (1 Corinthians 15:54).
Why then do human beings cower under the shadow of death – even some who claim to belong to God? Unbelief. Lack of faith. An absence of trust in God.
Jesus is the resurrection; he who believes this never dies (John 11:25-26).
Fix your eyes on Jesus now and forever more. Live life in His loving sight. So live that when you finally reach that heavenly shore, you will receive the kind of glory and honor that He did (Hebrews 12:1-2; Romans 8:15-17). Have no fear of death – it honors Him.
The purpose of this blog is to praise Jesus Christ in biblical terms for those familiar with the Bible.
